About Ereka
Hi, I’m Ereka Bishop
I am a wife and a mom to two kids! I enjoy all kinds of food and exploring new activities! I live in Northern California and love supporting other local businesses. I got into the nutrition field because I love food and was so curious how it affects the body.
In that time, I have worked with all age groups, in many different settings. I find myself most passionate about working with people one-on-one. My goal is to meet my clients where they are and assist them in become the best version of themselves in a way that is authentic, comfortable and simple. I am a simple gal and I love to make things easy! Change can be hard and I want it to be an effortless transition to a new lifestyle and most importantly, one that can be sustained.
Helping women who are wanting to ditch the diet and look at nutrition and nourishing their body and mind in a new healthy way. I have experience working with women in many areas but I am passionate about working with women on weight loss, digestive issues and diabetes.
Functional Nutrition is my focus when working with women/men. It is the process of partnering with and guiding a client through overall lifestyle changes, with a focus on nutrition and well-being. I will help you find foods and lifestyle changes, with a focus on nutrition and well-being. I will also help you find foods and lifestyle practices that fit your body and goals. The functional part refers to my focus on balancing all areas of life that relate to movement, rest, mindfulness and self-care.
My Experience
Registered Dietitian (MPA, RD)
I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s in Food Science and Human Nutrition and have a Masters in Public Administration, successfully completed my internship and passed my Registered Dietitian exam. I began my career in the medical field but never felt it was a right fit. My very first long term job was working for Tehama County at Women, Infant & Children’s Agency where I thrived counseling new moms. I wanted to experience a new side of Public Health and work with a broader and larger community. That is when I started my job as a Public Health Nutritionist at Shasta County Public Health in 2005. I have also taught nutrition at Shasta College and Diabetes Classes at Shasta Community College Health Center.
My experience includes working with people from all over the country, all age groups, entire school districts and individual classrooms. I have built relationships with retail establishments to improve access to fruits and vegetables and to decrease sugary beverages and junk food. Working with Public Health departments I have established programs to increase awareness of Chronic Disease prevention in our communities. I have a passion for helping the whole person and believe that there is more to improved health than just eating healthy. My desire is to increase awareness on how our mental well-being, diet, and what is around us, affects our health.
